After several intense discussions, we have decided to make 9 site models to house the models we will be making in the coming week. This may be labour- and work-intensive but it seems to us to be a logical approach to better show how each model sits within the context. This process is aided by a laser cutter that cuts through 3mm plywood like butter. Last but not least, it wouldn't have completed in time if not for all 5 efficient group mates!

Week 1 | Play? Ground? finalised
Play | Imagine
Play occurs in the mind of a fantasist. Children are known to be masters of fantasists across all age groups due to their fascination towards the world they have recently been introduced to. The fantasist embraces the surrounding sensorial cues to feed his imagination. As one begins to imagine, a story unfolds. The narration can be enhanced through the provision of spatial elements that involve movements, metaphors and surprises.
Ground | Wherever our imagination can take us
Many inventors that have contributed to the collection in the Powerhouse Museum have been fantasists since at a young age. From land transports to the space, human creativity across the ages has taken us to places deemed impossible by the previous generations. However, children of the present generation are at the risk of imagination deprivation due to the overly comfortable lifestyle. The proposed play area hopes to inspire children to keep fantasising as there are always fields that have yet to be explored, in this case, setting foot on a journey into the clouds.

The site is one of the most well-ventilated and naturally illuminated venues in the museum, making it suitable for the addition of a play area. The void spaces in between the hanging planes and the land transports on the floor calls for an insertion that complements the existing exhibits.
Week 1 | 3D printing + Australia + Powerhouse Museum = Our Site

| Figure 3.1: World's first 3D printed jet engine |
In early 2015, Monash University in Australia has 3D printed the first jet engine component in the world that can be used commercially. There is no doubt that the significance of 3D printing and the nation’s achievement will be recorded in history, particularly in the Powerhouse Museum. Taking into consideration that this design will be generated with the help of 3D printers, the Transport section in the Powerhouse Museum has been selected as a nod to the nation’s continuously effort to fantasise, explore and create.

Week 1 | Powerhouse Museum Playground
| Figure 1.1: The Powerhouse Museum |
The brief calls for a children's playground to be inserted within the Powerhouse Museum. Powerhouse museum prides itself as being one of Australia's premier cultural institutions, housing collections which express the nation's innovation and creativity in science, technology and the arts. The museum strives to celebrate human creativity and innovation in ways that engage, inform and inspire diverse audiences. It would be interesting to create a play area in line with the Powerhouse Museum's vision!
